
AskNow! is Australia’s first collaborative online reference service, staffed, on a time-share basis, by librarians from the National Library of Australia, the State Library of Victoria, the State Library of New South Wales, the State Library of Queensland, the State Library of Tasmania, the State Library of South Australia, the State Library of Western Australia, ACT Library and Information Services and the Northern Territory Library. By participating in AskNow!, the Northern Territory Library has joined forces with the National, State and Territory Libraries to provide an innovative, live reference service for all Australians.
National Treasures from Australia’s Great Libraries is a major touring library exhibition of key collection items from the National Library of Australia and each Australian state and territory library. The exhibition will commence at the National Library of Australia in December 2005 and then tour to each state and territory with an expected display completion date of late August 2007.
The National Plan for Australian Newspapers (NPLAN) is a cooperative initiative established by the Council of Australian State Libraries (CASL).The aim is to give all Australians access to the nation’s rich newspaper heritage by locating, acquiring, preserving and making accessible all newspapers ever published in Australia. Under NPLAN the Northern Territory Library and other State and Territory Libraries assume responsibility for the newspapers published in their jurisdiction.
PANDORA, Australia’s Web Archive is a national selective archive containing copies of significant Australian online publications and websites issued on the Internet. The Northern Territory Library contributes Northern Territory online publications and websites. The name, PANDORA, is an acronym for Preserving and Accessing Networked Documentary Resources of Australia.
PictureAustralia is an Internet based service that allows you to search many significant online pictorial collections at the same time. The Northern Territory Library is one of over 30 contributors to this service.
