NT Public Libraries

Northern Territory Library works in partnership with municipal libraries to enhance and support the delivery of library and information services in the Northern Territory (NT).

Its role is to:
  • Develop library and information services in the NT that reflect current organisation and government policies, future directions, environmental changes and client needs.
  • Provide leadership and ensure effective operation of the Public Library Network NT (PLNT) through assistance, strategic planning and coordination of Network meetings.
  • Participate in national library networks to enhance and support the delivery of library services in the NT.
  • Provide appropriate support and guidance to Public Library Services staff.
  • Maintain the shared catalogue (Virtua) and provide support via the LINNet Support site.
This includes coordinating network wide projects to improve public library services across the NT, such as:
  • Northern Territory public library promotions, such as the “@ your library” campaign
  • Development of current law resources for public libraries, including the NT Legal Information Toolkit
  • Early literacy programs and resources
  • Mylanguage Portal
  • Assisting NT public libraries in delivering indigenous library services
Enquiries regarding these and other services for public libraries can be directed to the Manager, Public Library Services on (08) 8922 0734.
