Lunchtime & Evening Talks


The Northern Territory Library hosts monthly lunchtime talks. Guest speakers possess valuable knowledge in their subject area and provide the public with the opportunity to learn and contribute in the diverse field of technology, history, education, business and other areas of personal or professional interest. 

The Northern Territory Library welcomes your nomination as a guest speaker in 2007.  To suggest a topic and register your interest, please contact the Northern Territory Library on 1800 019 155.

Book launch of ‘The Build Up’
20 August 2008, 6.30pm – 7.00pm

Award winning author Phillip Gwynne has written many novels and won several awards for his contribution to young adult fiction. Some of his successes include novels ‘Deadly, Unna?’; ‘The Worst Team Ever’; ‘Born To Bake’; ‘Nukkin Ya’ and ‘Australian Rules’. His latest crime fiction novel ‘The Build Up’ is based in Darwin and film rights has already been acquired by Chris Noonan, director of Babe and Ms Potter. Flyer Bio

Book launch of ‘The dog that dumped on my Doona’
27 August 2008, 11am – 12 noon

Barry Jonsberg is a Darwin-based author of children and young adult fiction. His first two novels were both shortlisted for the Children’s Book Council Award, and his third book, ‘Dreamrider’, was shortlisted for the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards. ‘It’s not all about You, Calma’ won the South Australian Premier’s Award.
