Kid's Corner at Nhulunbuy Library
Under 5's Storytime
Wednesday and Friday mornings at 10.00am
Aimed at the under-five year olds. Young children, along with their Parents and Carers, meet in the Library to listen to stories, and sing, dance, and play together. Stories and sessions follow a different theme set each month.
Christmas and the end of the year are nearly here again! Are you looking at the school holidays and wondering what the children can do over the summer?
Nhulunbuy Community Library once again has a great range of holiday programs on offer to suit children and youth across a wide range of ages and interests.
Come and join the Summer Reading Club. Members will receive special prizes as they read their favourite books. The theme for this year is Investigation, and the reading club encourages a wide range of reading as well as additional interesting activities for children to follow right across the school holidays. The Summer Reading Club membership and website start in early December. Thanks to the Rotary Club of Nhulunbuy, we have some fantastic prizes to encourage members to keep reading and to enjoy literature.
“You Be the Detective” is a further literacy program developed by the Nhulunbuy Community Library that will run over these holidays. Looking at mysteries, “who-dun-its”, crime and detective novels, crime scenes and true stories, an assortment of books and genre are on offer. Building on from the Investigation theme, find your way around a crime, investigate facts, or solve puzzles and games, to find out “who dunit” in the Library.
Choose an ending, solve a mystery, or write your own story! You can investigate your way through many mysteries, countries, myths and legends, with facts to explore, or crimes to solve!
Wherever your search leads you, whatever your interest, your own imagination is the limit. On offer is a wide range of books, websites, and activities to interest children and youth of all ages over the holidays. Activities, puzzles, quizzes, clues, websites, together with books and resources will be provided in the library for children to participate as they wish.
A number of craft and library activity sessions will again be held across the summer holidays.
Christmas Crafts Activities will be offered in the week prior to Christmas with children making Christmas cards and decorations.
Activity Sessions tied to the “You Be the Detective” Literacy Program will be on offer in the Library in the New Year. Various experiments, activities and crafts following a theme will be presented each week for children to join in to create and participate in.
Bookings for all these sessions will be essential, and will be taken from mid-December at the Library. Phone us on 89870860 or email Nhulunbuylibrary.firstname.lastname@example.org
All the staff at Nhulunbuy Community Library look forward to seeing you at the Library.
