Reference Services at the Northern Territory Library provides a prompt, efficient and professional service, able to deal with any reference query from the quick question to more in-depth queries. Experienced staff are also in hand to advise on reference strategies. There are three main service points, the reference desk and information desk on level 2 and the reference desk on level 1.

Clients can use the Northern Territory Library Reference service remotely, from home, work or institution or contact AskNow! a national live reference service offered by National, State and Territory libraries.

Staff are also readily available to direct clients to the Library’s comprehensive resource collections. These comprise the Reference Collection on level 2, which includes dictionaries encyclopaedias, indexes and travel guides and the General Collection on level 1, which consists of more that 100,000 volumes covering a wide rage of subjects.

For all those interested in the heritage of the Northern Territory, from the general user to the serious researcher, there is the Northern Territory Collection on level 1. This is the library’s principal special collection and holds the most comprehensive range of Northern Territory documentation, both historical and contemporary, in the world.
